My friend lost her green card while she was on vacation in China. She got a temporary green card to travel in a week or so which facilitated her entry into US and once she reached here, she just applied for another green card claiming the initial one as lost. There were no issues except the travel delay and the monetary loss.

Looks like NSC is sending EAD cards in a 'first filed first served ' sequence. I have been monitoring this with my friends circle, where EAD is issued in chronological order. About a few weeks ago, one of my friends received EAD for his July 24th filing, a week ago an Aug 6th filer received EAD card, Last week Aug 8th and 13th filers received EADs.
I filed on Aug 10, but no EAD yet for me. Anybody who filed before Aug 13, didn't receive EAD yet?
I filed my 485 on July 18 at NSC. The checks got cleared only last week at TSC. Looks like my 485 was tranferred from NSC to TSC. So, will I be having problem in getting my EAD, as my 485 is filed at TSC now, and EAD is at NSC.
Please respond your views.

I've been doing some research and It looks like I'm might have to file amended I-140 concurrently with my I-485.

I wish this could be more easy.
That's why people hire lawyers to help them! The 864 is especially tricky.
The person being sponsored does not need to sign the I-864A as a household member, unless you have family immigrating with you. The whole reason for using an 864A is to show that a "household member" agrees to be a joint sponsor. By definition, a household member must live in the same house, i.e. have the same address.
Provide whatever documents you have to show that you have the same address, but considering having a lawyer help you, since this is a bit of a mess.

I have started a new thread to remind everyone (who has not yet contributed) to contribute for the just concluded Advocacy day.
Take some funds from any money that you put aside this year for charitable causes or temple donations. All that you contribute is money well spent - as eventually it would benefit a number of people and entire families. So helping people better their lives is like contributing to charitable causes. I moved to a different place (same city), but my wife is out of country. I am trying to file AR-11 for change of address, but it is asking for Last Port of entry. Is AR11 needed only for people who are currently in the country.

It's very painful to deal with these guys at times.
I also tried asking a finance broker about this and never heard back...
Have you tried apporaching another bank or some broker ?
(I was intrested to know if the can do a intrest only loan for 125% of current value...I would think no.....but perhaps no one has all the details ironed out yet)

i am switching employers and i have about 10k in my 401k with current employer. my next employer does not have the option to start 401k until after one year of service.i am looking for options to rollover my 401k to a IRA in a company. does anyone have any recommendations?thanks in advance

The reason I didn't roll them into IRA is that I prob would have made the same selection of mutual funds that I currently have in my 401K. The company is stable so no worries there. Point is, move your money only if you think it will serve you a better purpose or else wait for your new 401K to kick in and after that just roll over the other account directly into the new one...
Just my 2 cents, of course...

On paper, the D2X looks really great and certainly meets my expectations. Only time and testing will tell and I'll wait for the verdict to come in before I buy one. However, I'll be saving my pennies in anticipation that this camera will perform well. Nikon has not released any price information to their dealers but one told me to expect this puppy to be in the $4000 - $5000 price range.
If this is as good as it looks perhaps Nikon users will be in the same boat as Canon users when it comes to finding new and used lenses. Now might be the time to pick up some good "surplus" Nikkor lenses that are all over the place.
I see that the D2X will be using a CMOS sensor instead of a CCD. As a relative neophyte to digital photography I'm curious as to why they did this.
Anyway, these are exciting times and this is exciting news. Hopefully the D2X will be a superb performer and I'll only have to buy the body instead of changing brands and having to buy everything all over again.

What sort of "tricks" are you after.
I think it's fair to say that "learning to use the camera itself" is the easy part. Understanding of how to take good photos is a lifetime ambition for most of us... ;-)
To put it another way, there may well be small tricks like "if you set this up, you can press that button, and you've automatically set it ready for doing X". Which is great. But if you don't know the basic things like: composition, lighting/exposure and control of focus/depth of field, which are the basic photography concepts, then you're barking up the wrong tree fishing for tricks.
So, some tricks are "rule of thirds" and "blur out un-wanted background noise". But that's regardless of the camera you use.

I am in USA on H1B since 1999. I am working with Company A since September 2006 on H-1B. My 485 is filed by Company A under EB3 in July 2007 with PD 10/2006.
I am in process of changing job from Company A to Company B in same field using AC-21 and EAD. My last day with Company A would be June 10th. I have an offer letter from Company B and going to join them on EAD in June end / early July (my start date is flexible). AC-21 will be filed by Company B's lawyers once I join them.
Meanwhile if I want to travel to India (no emergencies, just want to see the family), can I use my AP to return? My current AP expires in December 2011.
Has anyone done this before?

I would suggest googling for the Indian consulate in your jurisdiction. Although most indian consul websites are confusing and really difficult, so good luck.
btw, if your daughter was born in India, but she is here with you, how did she enter USA without a passport.

1.As I will be in army training and they will adjust my status, but what will happen to my wife/son if they will be USA and their H4 want work as I want be no more on H1. And what will be their status during this time.
2.What if I send them back to my origin country and after coming back from training/naturalization how much time you see it may take? Do you see any difficulty reentering them? What will be their status, once they reenter?
About my background, none of us has any single criminal history except couple speeding ticket. :)
